Tamiya Acrylic Paints are made from
water-soluble acrylic resins and are excellent for either
brush or airbrush painting. These paints can be used on styrol resins, styrofoam, wood, plus all of the common model plastics. The paint covers well, flows smoothly with no blushing or fading, and can be blended easily.
There is a full range of
glossy colors (starting with reference X-),
flat colors (starting with reference XF-) and
translucent colors.
Acrylic paints are totally different from enamel paints. You can't mix them, although you can paint with acrylic paints over enamel paints (but
NOT the other way round).
The biggest advantage of these paints are their
drying times, going
dry to touch in 20-30 minutes,
completely dry in 1 hour, and
additional coats can be applied after just 6-8 hours. This drying speed provides a better
protection to dust pollution on the model, and makes it possible to
continue building in the same day.
Another advantage is their
low toxicity and smell, and the remains on the brushes or airbrush must be
cleaned with water.
The target surface must be completely clean, and it's recommended to previously clean it with warm water and neutral detergent. For better adhesion, it's also
recommended to use Tamiya primer over the target surface.
Paint bottles must be well shaken before use. If solving is necessary,
use only Tamiya solvent (ref. X-20). Once dry, paint can be cleaned with alcohol or with this same solvent.
This product has been imported by Hisinsa (Tamiya official distributor).
