In May 1985, the U.S. Navy awarded Martin-Baker the NACES contract. The program's goal was to develop a high-performance, high-tech ejection seat that could be integrated into various types of aircraft.

The Mk14 ejection seat, more commonly known as the SJU-17A and NACES (Navy Aircrew Common Ejection Seat), is currently in service on the F/A-18 and T-45 Goshawk.
